Hi, I'm Emma Bowes—a professional freelance writer in Wiltshire (and beyond). My writing is always fresh, lovingly-crafted and, most importantly, a great fit for you. I'm a tone of voice fanatic and I love helping purpose-led brands share their stories in impactful and creative ways.
Writing and reading have always taken centre stage in my education, career and hobbies. I have a first-class honours degree and a master's degree, both in English Literature. I've been learning my craft for as long as I can remember and it's a privilege to continue doing so everyday.
I started my career in publishing, working in an editorial team. I then moved into a corporate communications role where—as well as writing all sorts—I led on tone of voice. I bring my experience from both of these worlds to my projects. Creative ideas + detailed execution = winning combination.
Being freelance allows me to continuously challenge myself with new briefs. I'm constantly learning and thinking in different ways (which helps me to grow my skills). My heart is fully in this job, so joy and enthusiasm are a given too.

When we start working together, you can choose whether to receive a fixed estimate for the whole project up front or be charged by the hour. I am happy to use whichever method works best for you. My current rate is £30 per hour.
I'm a Wiltshire copywriter but work remotely most of the time, so I am lucky enough to have clients as far away as Canada. If you happen to be more local to me, it's always a pleasure to meet clients in person for a catch up or creative brainstorm.
Currently I have most experience writing for the housing & property sector and the not-for-profit/charitable sector. However, writing about new topics and industries is always something I embrace.
You as the client have the expertise in your business area and it's my job to listen and learn enough to deliver great work for you. Things are always changing and every project is unique, so whether I have some familiarity with the area or not, the process of understanding and thinking is the same.
I love working with organisations who have a clear mission and an open-minded approach which propels them forward. Not only are they inspiring to write about, but they tend to be excited by new ideas and this enables me to maximise my impact.
